What is a Liposuction?
Liposuction is the procedure designed to remove excessive fat surgically from the areas of body that are resistant and stubborn toward fat loss. Despite of all the efforts to reduce weight by diet and exercise which ultimately render your body to have a disproportionate shape and figure.
The usual areas of fat built up include; chin, lower abdomen, thighs, flanks, under arms, neck, jaw and buttocks.
Liposuction may be needed alongside an Abdominoplasty for people who have recently lost weight and have loose or excess skin following weight loss, in order to achieve their desired look.
Mr Alvi will meet with all eligible patients to determine their individual needs prior to their decision. A detailed discussion with Mr Alvi will determine what can be done and a plan can be made.
It is worth mentioning that liposuction is not an alternative to weight loss so it should only be considered as an aid to achieving the body figure you desire.
Once you have decided to go ahead with the surgery, you will be called before the operation for the pre-operative assessment which will include routine blood tests and specific measurements. Admission to our state of the art health facility, in Chester or Liverpool, is advised one day before surgery for pre-operative preparation, although the procedure can also be done as a day care case depending upon your assessment. That will be finalised after the consultation with Mr Rizwan Alvi.
The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia, which is putting you in controlled sleep so that you do not feel any pain or discomfort. The time of surgery varies from 45 minutes to 2 hours.
Mr Alvi chooses the best techniques to perform liposuction, keeping in mind your targets and requirements.
During the surgery, a metal cannula is inserted through a tiny incision in the skin over the area to be treated and excess fat is removed by the cannula which is moved in the corresponding area while sucking the fat through the suction machine. During the procedure only excess fat is removed and the aim is to leave a smooth contour in the treated area.
Post operatively you will need to stay at the hospital overnight as we provide you with best post-op care.
Following you surgery you may feel some soreness and swelling at the incision sites which is totally normal after the procedure and it will resolve quickly.
The stitches at the incision sites will dissolve after 10-12 days. The scars from the surgery are minimal and after a full recovery they almost disappear.
You will be able to see the results of surgery immediately after the procedure, though there may be some skin laxity due to removal of fat from beneath but with our state of the art post-op care the skin will regain its tone perfectly.
